Since 2010, the State Grid Transportation Inspection Department has organized the China Electric Power Research Institute to carry out the application research on the parallel gap technology of 110 kV to 500 kV line insulators, and the 118 lines of the State Grid Beijing, Hebei, Zhejiang Electric Power and other units have a total of 2,540 kilometers. The pilot application of parallel gap technology has been carried out on 35 kV to 500 kV lines, which has the effect of effectively reducing the lightning failure rate, protecting insulators, and reducing the workload of fault inspection.
